A Good Thing Keeps On Going Out On The 'Neck

on Sat, 07/16/2011 - 20:32

I had a great show at the Kahn Studio in Gloucester. The atmosphere at Rocky Neck is wonderful and I came to understand why it is the oldest continuously-running art colony in the Americas. I did not want to leave. I wanted to stay and keep showing my work; I wanted to stay and paint. My wish came true when I mentioned this to my hostess, Ellen Lefavour, who in turn informed me there was one vacant space left for the season. That's when things got really interesting.

Seizing the moment, Stevie and I sprung into action and snatched it right up.

Printmaking And How I Fell In Love

on Tue, 06/28/2011 - 01:14

I fell in love with printmaking when Stevie Black reintroduced me to it. I had tried before, but it wasn’t until we did a polystyrene printing workshop with Bonnie Mineo at the Museum School at DeCordova that I really got the bug. Wow, did that change my painting! The technique opened doors to me and soon I began printing with all sorts of things.

I printed some of Stevie’s old woodblock plates, and they became the wonderful base for many of the hybrids in the “Danger”, “Under the Microscope”, “Texas”and “Under the Surface” series, as well as other works.
